![]() About MAC : What is the MAC?
The Manhattan Amateur Classic ("MAC"), the only annual DanceSport event that has been regularly held
in New York City since 1991, provides an outlet for the wealth of dance talent in and around the New
York metropolitan area. With the MAC's explosive growth in recent years, especially among youth dancers,
MAC has become a dance mecca, taking its place among the nation's leading competitive events.
MAC 2006 proudly hosted some 700 competitors and about 1500 spectators.
Held in the Civic Center Gymnasium at Pace University and presented by NYUSABA, the MAC represents the best in DanceSport from all across the Northeast and different parts of the country. See a photo of the MAC 2005 organizers and officials here How do I get involved with the MAC? Everyone is welcome at the MAC. The competition is open to all USA Dance members -- young or old, newcomers
as well as
seasoned veterans and all levels in between. Not competing? Then join us as spectators and come out to cheer on your favorite dancers. There's been quite a bit of popular media exposure of ballroom dancing lately, on the big screen and small. But there's no experience quite like being at a real live DanceSport competition, watching the artistry, speed, grace and athleticism of the dancers as they draw inspiration from the enthusiastic cheers and energy of the audience. At the MAC, all the excitement and beauty of DanceSport competition come together, providing a unique opportunity for everyone to experience the joy and fun of DanceSport at its best. |
